14 Day May Challenge

Are any of you Folksters up for a 14 Day May Challenge? Getting in 10,000 steps a day can be a challenge – we know, however, what a difference it can make in your life! The challenge of running 3 times of week will help you get to the 10,000 steps quicker on those days (and the planking will make you stronger and give you a sexier stomach)! We hope this makes a difference by adding this little challenge to your Folk Wellness Co. Bootcamp schedule! The challenge rules are simple: 

  • Starts May 18th
  • Ends May 31st
  • Let us know how you did on June 1st

Love Fest 2014

loveOur LOVE Fest begins  January 14th and runs until February 13th. It is a 31 day running/walking challenge.  We ask that you submit your results to us on February 14th – LOVE day! 

It’s only 5 weeks long and your goal is to aim for 50 miles over the 31 days. That is an average of a little over a 1.5 miles per day. You can lump these miles up however you choose – run 3 one day and take a day off; run 1.6 every day; or run 6 miles one day and take the weekend off.

We would also LOVE to see who can beat our goal of 50 miles! 

The point of our LOVE fest is that studies show by “journaling” and “seeing” results, good habits tend to stick longer and accountability increases. We LOVE you guys so much that we want daily exercise and healthy habits to become a something you LOVE to do vs. have to do. Looking forward to this #LOVEfest for we LOVE each and every one of you! We created this challenge to to be fun and attainable. It’s a simple 3-a-day challenge for 30 days. 1-workout, 1-veggie and 1-fruit, that’s all! The goal is to obtain thirty points for each category by Thanksgiving. Want more points? You can earn double the exercise points by working out at a Folk Wellness Co Bootcamp (equals 2 points). Improvements: Speed!

My 1-mile run time isn’t improving. How can I speed up?

It sounds counterintuitive, but try running slower and for a longer distance. In other words, don’t try to go out and improve your time day after day after day of the same distance.”

Your body recognizes the “overload” of the longer distance and strives to adapt by making your heart bigger and stronger, multiplying and expanding blood

We are planning on parking around Butler Park. There are restrooms here (mega important), next to the Daugherty Arts Center off of Barton Springs. You also have the parking garages @ Palmer Event Center and The Long Center
